Breitbart And Shuster Battle On-Air Over O’Keefe

MSNBC’s David Shuster just battled with Big Government’s Andrew Breitbart on-air over the arrest of James O’Keefe and friends for allegedly trying to tamper with the phones in Sen. Mary Landrieu’s New Orleans office.

Breitbart attacked Shuster and MSNBC for “slandering” O’Keefe by saying he had wiretapped Landrieu’s phones and demanded Shuster retract the wiretapping claim, which he did. He also attacked Shuster for tweeting that O’Keefe “intended to tap [Landrieu’s] phones.”

The interview quickly turned into a shouting match about journalism ethics. Hat tip: TPM LiveWire

SC Governor Mark Sanford Faces 37 Charges By Ethics Panel– Impeachment hearings begin today

TPM/—South Carolina’s ethics commission is investigating 37 allegations of lawbreaking by Gov. Mark Sanford in connection with travel and use of campaign funds — charges his lawyer described just last week as “minor, technical matters.”

Sanford is accused of violating ethics laws barring officials from buying high-priced airfare — including on trips to visit his lover in Argentina last year — as well as using state airplanes for personal travel, The State reports.

Sanford’s lawyers told The State that amid the investigation, the governor had added disclosures of flights he took on planes owned by friends and donors, as required by law.

Meanwhile, a bipartisan panel of South Carolina legislators are set to take up impeachment proceedings against Sanford on Tuesday. He has over a year left in his term.

Senator John Ensign (R-NV)

TPM/Zachary Roth—We knew there was another shoe waiting to drop in the story of Nevada GOP senator John Ensign’s affair with his an aide’s wife.

And now it’s dropped. A lengthy investigation by the New York Times reveals that Ensign was far more involved than previously known in trying to get a job for Doug Hampton — his mistress’s husband — after the affair had been discovered. And that Ensign then used his influence in government to try to do favors for Doug Hampton’s new employers — apparently in violation of lobbying rules.

As Hampton summed up the basic problem to the Times: “The only way the clients could get what John was essentially promising them — which was access — was if I still had a way to work with his office,” Mr. Hampton said. “And John knew that.”

Senator John Ensign is the same hypocrite guy who was lecturing Democrats this week on the public option in health care reform. You really should read the whole thing…read all the revelations @ TPM
