Man Charged With Threatening To Kill Democrat Senator Patty Murray Over Health Bill

TPM~Charles Alan Wilson, a 64-year-old Washington man who was angered over health care reform, has been charged with threatening a federal official for allegedly making profanity and misogyny-laced death threats in messages left for Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington announced today.

The complaint alleges that Wilson called Murray’s office multiple times between March 22 — the day after the health bill passed the House — and April 4. In one message, he allegedly said that Murray “had a target on her back.” In another, he allegedly said, “I want to (expletive) kill you.”

The press release from the U.S. attorney continues: “Wilson discussed assisting others in an attempt to kill the senator. Wilson’s threats were in response to the passage of the Health Care Reform Act.” Wilson was arrested this morning.

President Obama Plays HORSE with CBS’ Clark Kellogg

White House/Jason Djang~It’s been a big day of sports and games around the White House today. The President kicked off the annual White House Easter Egg Roll this morning where thousands of visiting children pushed eggs down the South Lawn. He then headed across town to Nationals Park where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch on the Nats’ Opening Day. That pitch marked the 100th anniversary of Presidential first pitches on Opening Day of baseball season, a tradition inaugurated by William Howard Taft on April 14, 1910.

And you better believe that the President will be watching tonight’s NCAA men’s basketball championship. In the run-up to the Final Four, he took on former NBA player and CBS Sports college basketball commentator Clark Kellogg in a game of HORSE — rather, POTUS — at the White House. Watch how he fared against the pro:

Plano, Texas Man Arrested by FBI for Threatening Deadly Violence at Abortion Clinic in Dallas

Erlyndon Joseph Lo

Dallas/FBI~DALLAS—Erlyndon J. Lo, 27, was arrested Saturday afternoon by FBI agents at his home in Plano, Texas, on charges that he threatened to use deadly force to stop an abortion at the Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center (SWSC) in Dallas, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Lo made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Don Bush, of the Eastern District of Texas, this morning in Plano, however his detention hearing was continued to April 15, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Bush. If detained, Lo will be transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Texas following the hearing.

The federal complaint charges Lo with one count of using interstate commerce to communicate a threat to injure and one count of threatening force to intimidate and interfere with clients and employees of a reproductive health service in order to intimidate that facility’s clients and employees from obtaining and providing reproductive health services.

According to the complaint, at approximately 8:13 a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010, Lo entered the U.S. District Clerk’s Office in the Plano federal courthouse and filed a document styled “Erlyndon J. Lo v. Roberts, et al. and entitled “Motion for an Immediate Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) Seeking a Preliminary and Permanent Injunction,” seeking to have the district court declare abortion illegal in the U.S. That motion stated in part:

“My life is at stake. I could be MURDERED AND KILLED as early as Friday, April 2, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. NOON in Dallas, Texas (“TX”) if you do not IMMEDIATELY GRANT MY REQUEST for in the very least a TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER!!!”

“I plan on saving at least one human life in Dallas, Texas at 12:00 p.m. at the Southwestern late-term abortion facility, 8616 Greenville Ave. at Royal Ln. (NE corner), Dallas 75243.”

“My religious beliefs include the beliefs that an individual is alive at the moment of conception, abortion is murder and is the worst murder of all murders possible because these babies are completely defenseless, and I am entitled under my religious beliefs to use deadly force if necessary to save the innocent life of another.”

“[Specific facts: ON FRIDAY, APRIL 2, 2010, TOMORROW, I WILL BE AT THE SOUTHWESTERN LATE-TERM ABORTION FACILITY LOCATED AT 8616 Greenville Ave. at Royal Ln. (NE corner), Dallas 75243, I will try to stop an abortion using oral words, and if words are not enough. I will use physical force if necessary, and if anyone tries to physically stop me, I will overcome that force, and if I must use deadly force to defend the innocent life of another human being, I will.”

C-SPAN’s StudentCam 2010 With First Lady Michelle Obama

Posted by: Audiegrl

On Wednesday, April 7, 2010 C-SPAN hosted a live program with Michelle Obama about the issue of childhood obesity, a topic she has spoken out about during her time as First Lady. C-SPAN StudentCam’s First Prize Middle School winner, Matthew Shimura, will join the First Lady at the White House for the program. His winning StudentCam documentary focused on the issue of childhood obesity in America.

This year C-SPAN challenged middle and high school students from across the United States to address what they believe are the major issues of the day with a video project. There were 1,000 student documentarians who submitted videos and 128 of them focused on a health issue.

During the program Mrs. Obama took calls from other students who submitted StudentCam videos about obesity. The event will take place in front of an audience of students.

Political Punch~First Lady Michelle Obama told students today that the most important part of her “Let’s Move!” initiative to combat childhood obesity is advocating for healthy living and promoting an active lifestyle for the nation’s youth and not focusing on appearances.

To see the statistics, seeing that one in three kids in this country is overweight or obese and that we’re on track for the first time ever for our kids to live shorter lives than we do. You know, that in and of itself was terrifying enough for me,” the first lady said at a live C-SPAN town hall meeting today with school students. “I wouldn’t want that fate for my girls and I don’t want it for any of you or any other kids in this country.”

About Matthew Shimura

Contest winner Matthew Shimura

Matthew won first prize in the middle school category in C-SPAN’s 2010 StudentCam competition for his entry titled, “Childhood Obesity”.

Matthew attends the Punahou School in Honolulu, HI, a K-12 school. It is the largest coeducational, independent school on a single campus in the United States.

President Barack Obama also attended Punahou School from 1971 to 1979 during his childhood years in Hawaii. Check-out Matthew’s winning video below, he did a great job!
