Congratulations Senator Snowe! I wish that we could send you a box of Krispy Kreme’s.

    Seriously, well done Madam! 🙂

Well done — let’s keep it going. If both the House and Senate can act like adults, we can pass a good bill. Fingers crosssed.

    • agreed, today was a very good step forward. I’m hoping Snowe’s vote will give cover for other Republicans to follow suit.

Chris Cilliza makes the same point for moderate Dems like Nelson and Blanche Lincoln. The political reality is that folks like these will need cover from Republicans. So this is a good development. But no cause to celebrate — gotta keep this thing moving.

good job sen. snowe! do what you think is right rather than what you are being pressured to do

  4. I read today about a Senator being willing to lose his seat to vote for the health-insurance reform. “Integrity,” you might say, or “betrayal” (of his constituents). But I think this misses the point–meaning the role of the US Senate as a check on the House (and us).

Maybe his constituents want real health care reform. 🙂

In 2006, there were more than 2,709,000 people between the ages of 25 and 64 living in Colorado. Of those, 18.8 percent were uninsured. Uninsured Coloradans are sicker and die sooner than their insured counterparts.

But I’ll let him speak for himself…
