On second thought, I might have another take on the whole kerfuffle. You saw the video of Rick Sanchez already, but I just watched another segment of the same topic given by Campbell Brown this evening in prime time.

Fox bought the full page ad in the Washington Post, IMHO, to bait the other networks into telling all their viewers how important and valid the Teabag protests were. How the other networks can prove they covered the story (by showing more footage of them covering the protest).

Campbell has spent about 10 minutes so far, talking about the excellent coverage, showing more footage, how the teabag protesters were important to CNN, how the teabaggers were only concerned about big government spending and taxes, etc… ad nauseum.

All the critical and negative footage of the event shown in Rick Sanchez’s earlier segment, that showed some of the crazy underbelly of the protests, and some of the nastier signs, has been removed from the report Campbell gave.

Now its just all flowers and kisses, and patriots and salt of the earth shots. 😉

So essentially for the price of a full page ad in today’s newspaper, Fox was able to manipulate CNN to change the tone of their coverage of the Teabag protest in Washington.

    That’s a old publicity trick.

You accuse someone of something, you know to be untrue, and force the other person to correct your lie, by refuting it, and it also forces the accused to go out of their way to prove that they were not unfair to you.

That’s what I think happened here. Classic passive-aggressive tactics. Not thinking it through, I fell for it too. But just for a little while.

In the famous words of our friend Ogenec…

Just because I’m paranoid, doesn’t mean they’re not out to get me 😉

      Ding.Ding.Ding. We have a winner!

Fox News has responded to CNN’s Rick Sanchez over his reaction to their ad saying that other networks missed the story of the 9/12 protest march in Washington.

When asked about their competitors’ reaction to the ad, a FOX executive laughed and said, “Thank you very much, and a special thanks to Rick Sanchez who has always been a sucker. He’s a gift that keeps on giving.”
