Report Reveals CIA Conducted Mock Executions

Posted by Audiegrl
A long-suppressed report by the Central Intelligence Agency’s inspector general to be released next week reveals that CIA interrogators staged mock executions as part of the agency’s post-9/11 program to detain and question terror suspects.

According to two sources—one who has read a draft of the paper and one who was briefed on it—the report describes how one detainee, suspected USS Cole bomber Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, was threatened with a gun and a power drill during the course of CIA interrogation. According to the sources, who like others quoted in this article asked not to be named while discussing sensitive information, Nashiri’s interrogators brandished the gun in an effort to convince him that he was going to be shot. Interrogators also turned on a power drill and held it near him. “The purpose was to scare him into giving [information] up,” said one of the sources. A federal law banning the use of torture expressly forbids threatening a detainee with “imminent death.”

Joe Ferraro: The Man Who Challenged Obama On Health Care

Posted by GeoT

I have nothing but bad things to say right now about any Democrat who goes up against the president,” he said. “If you’re a liberal pulling this crap, if you’re a Blue Dog pulling this crap, get the hell out of the way.”
_____

As for Obama’s answer to his question, Ferraro was satisfied.

“I believed the guy,” he said.

Michael Moore’s ‘Capitalism: A Love Story’

Posted by Audiegrl

It’s a crime story. But it’s also a war story about class warfare. And a vampire movie, with the upper 1 percent feeding off the rest of us. And, of course, it’s also a love story. Only it’s about an abusive relationship.

It’s not about an individual, like Roger Smith, or a corporation, or even an issue, like health care. This is the big enchilada. This is about the thing that dominates all our lives — the economy. I made this movie as if it was going to be the last movie I was allowed to make.–Michael Moore

For anyone who would like to read Michael’s diary on DKos and send him a message, you can find it here.

The movie will be in theaters on October 2nd.

If the founders were alive today, Republicans would be giving them shit because the Preamble to the Constitution says, “In order to form a more perfect union? Hello, it’s already perfect! Why are you suggesting American apologetics, Ben Franklin?”–Bill Maher

Bill’s humor is not for the faint of heart (NSFW), but he often gets right to the root of the problem with our elected politician’s and the people in our country obsessed by politics. Yes, people like us. 🙂

He has interesting guests and always ends each episode with a ‘New Rules” segment. Lately he has been posting his New Rules on Huffington Post on Friday mornings, letting readers see what he will be covering that night. The New Rules for tonight’s show can be found here.

Guests on this week’s program include Jay Leno, Chuck Todd, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, Sam Harris and Jeremy Scahill.

Bill Maher is a award winning comedian and Host of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” which you can catch on Fridays at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on HBO.

Hey, Don’t Save Me From Government Health Care! by Jon Soltz

Posted by Betham37

The whole health care debate has been completely confusing to me and a lot of the veterans and troops I talk with every day. See, for us, most of us got free, government-run health care.

Betsy McCaughey to appear on Daily Show tonight

Betsy McCaughey on CNN

Betsy McCaughey on CNN

Posted by Audiegrl

This should be very interesting. Betsy is the person who started the whole ‘death panel’ thing…she is patient zero. She is trying, once again, to kill Healthcare Reform for her buddies in the insurance business, just like she did in the 1990’s. We can only hope that Jon Stewart gives her the same ‘star treatment’ that he gave Jim Cramer. So make sure to set your TiVo or DVR if you can’t watch it tonight, because it should be a bumpy ride. 🙂

****Breaking News: Dick Armey was forced out of his lobbying shop, and now opposition to health care reform has taken a professional toll on another critic: A New Jersey medical device company, Cantel, just announced that Betsy McCaughey — the day after sparring with Jon Stewart — is “resigning to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest during the national debate over healthcare reform.”

Thank you Jon Stewart!
